DIPLOMA IN AERONAUTICAL ENGINEERING (AIRFRAMES & ENGINES OPTION)

This course is designed to equip the trainee with relevant knowledge, skills and attitude necessary to carry out Aircraft Line Maintenance duties.  The trainees are expected to acquire skills in Communication, Information Communication Technology, Entrepreneurship, Airfield and Safety Procedures and Aircraft Maintenance.

General Objectives

 

By the end of this module the trainee should be able to:-

a) Communicate effectively at the work place

b) Demonstrate entrepreneurial behaviour

c) Understand the principles of flight

d) Observe general safety and procedures in the maintenance workshop and hangar

e) Perform line maintenance work on aircraft.

Assessment

 

The programme is continuously assessed with Institute’s final exams and external KNEC, and /or KCAA.

 

Recommended Candidates

KCSE mean grade C- (Minus) and above.

 

 

Achievements at the end of the course

• Institute certificate of course completion of the Diploma in Aeronautical Engineering

• Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) Diploma

 

 Duration

3 years 20 hours per week, includes industrial attachment

 

Career Prospects

• Career opportunities for successful graduates exist in Airlines, Charter Companies, Avionics and instrumentation, Aircraft Maintenance companies and Aircraft Ground Handling Agents, where they may be employed as aircraft technicians, avionic and instrumentation experts and line maintenance.
